The Utah Tight Endz: Spring Time Means Football Time!

We are underway with our Women’s Flag Football League out here in Utah.  My wife was asked to form a new team after Pink Crush, and so she and a few others asked me to be one of the coaches of her new team; “Utah Tight Endz.”   (I didn’t come up with the name ~ahem~)  But we certainly are having fun with the name as you can see:

Yep that skinny butt over there in the red is me; Dustin Jorgenson.  lol

So how did I wind up doing this you may ask?  Well little do people know that I coached my wife’s other team ‘Pink Crush’ for a few seasons and admittedly I am looking forward to doing some coaching again.  I think these gals have a lot of talent and each time they go out onto the field, they play with heart.

On March 8 of this year we had the chance to take on the semi-pro team “The Falconz’ in a scrimmage and despite not ‘officially’ keeping score and all, we in fact did wind up in the end zone more than they did and that equals a ‘win.’  They confessed that we played really well and were honestly surprised we had only been a team for a few weeks…

Here we all are, in a more serious and recent team photo:

But we are playing very, very well.  Last weekend we were down in Las Vegas playing some of the Arizona teams that have been together for years and we came up with some great wins, thus proving our team has quite a bit of promise ahead of them.  In Vegas we played Pink Crush won 12 to 0, then we played an Arizona-based team, the Gold Diggers and despite being so close to the end zone on several occasions, we lost 12 to 0.  🙁  After that we played the Thundercats (another team from Arizona) and lost 19 to 6, and then we played the Fire which was also an Arizona team and in that one we won 6 to 0.

When the dust on the field had finally settled, The Utah Tight Endz ended up taking 3rd overall.  That is definitely something to be proud of for us being such a new team!

We also had the opportunity to face some of our old teammates from Pink Crush.

As you can see, it was a competitive game which we won, and a few of us hung around to cheer on our old team/friends in their next game as well.

Despite some minor injuries in Las Vegas where my wife Senja got her toe stepped on (which is still bruised) the Utah Tight Endz team is looking good.  I am looking forward to the season and especially the Utah Bowl in which we are actively trying to get eight teams together to play in.  It’s kind of hard since this is all being done without the aid of any rec/county center but we are all hoping it catches on and there are enough women who want to do this and help it grow!

Well thanks for visiting!  As always; this is Dustin Jorgenson saying have a great day!
